Description
1-SINT/SLIDE4
The code 1-SINT/SLIDE4 identifies the drilling slide of the MTS3000-Restan system that uses a drilling with high speed electric motor: this technology allows to perform tests on metals.
Electric motor technology for hole drilling residual stress measurements on metallic materials works with an high speed rotational speed (approx. 50’000 RPM) that allows to realize hole drilling tests in metallic materials without inducing any stress in the measurement process. The high speed electric motor is placed in a dedicated drilling slide made in aluminium alloy. The electric motor device and the microscope (not included in this kit) can be swapped between them depending of the measurement stage: they can both be housed in the same positioning in the drilling slide.
The high speed electric motor is able to drill standard metals using the special endmills and spare parts developed by SINT Technology: the drilling tools has a dedicated easy-locking chuck for endmills with a shank diameter of 3mm.
When introduced in the mechanical body of the MTS3000-Restan system, the dedicated linear rack and its precision dovetail guide allows a manual vertical movement of the drilling slide controlled by the operator for the preliminary positioning of the endmill in the area of the strain gage rosette. Connection to power supply can be done with a dedicated cable that need to be connected in the rear part of the electronic device of the MTS3000-Restan system (not included in this kit).
The main features of the drilling slide are:
- Anodized aluminium body of the slide with an universal connection between the drilling slide and the mechanical body of the MTS3000-Restan system,
- The rotation speed of the electric motor, for composite materials, is optimized (torque, power, local heating) thus allowing to minimize the influence of the drilling process,
- This tool has the possibility to drill the bigger strain gages (DGAGE of approx. 10.26 mm) and to realize test in filed application in absence of the air compressed line,
- The drilling slide allows the possibility to introduce both the optical (1-SINT/OPT) and digital (1-SINT/ETH) microscopes.
