Description
1-SINT/SLIDE6
The code 1-SINT/SLIDE6 identifies the drilling slide of the MTS3000-Restan system that uses a drilling an high speed air turbine with an automatic orbital drilling: this technology allows to perform tests on metals with a customizable diameter of the drilling hole (from 1.0 to 4.0 mm).
Air turbine orbital drilling technology works with an high speed rotational speed (>400’000 RPM at 4 bars) that allows to realize hole drilling tests in metallic materials without inducing any stress in the measurement process: the turbine is also rotated with a certain value of eccentricity around the reference axis of the drilling device. The orbital drilling is controlled by a small DC electric motor with an adjustable rotation speed. Also the eccentricity radius can be controlled by the operator in 5 different positions (0, 0.1, 0.25, 0.5 and 1.0mm). The different orbital radii ensure a complete selection of the measurement layout allowing to perform measurement using different hole diameters up to 4mm (suitable for the bigger strain gage rosette).
The advantages of the orbital drilling are the better chip ejection and the capability to use an endmill with a small diameter and, as consequence, a small bottom hole chamfer.
The air turbine for orbital is installed in a dedicated rotating housing placed in the lower part of the device. The rotating support is developed in order to move the drilling unit during the centering and the measurement of the diameter of the drilled hole, allowing a perfect field of view of the strain gage rosette using the dedicated microscope (not included in this kit). When introduced in the mechanical body of the MTS3000-Restan system, the dedicated linear rack and its precision dovetail guide allows a manual vertical movement of the drilling slide controlled by the operator for the preliminary positioning of the endmill in the area of the strain gage rosette.
Connection to the air compressed line can be easy done using a dedicated 6mm connector placed in the rear part of the rotating support of the drilling slide.
The main features of the drilling slide are:
- Anodized aluminium body of the slide with an universal connection between the drilling slide and the mechanical body of the MTS3000-Restan system,
- The high speed turbine makes it possible to minimize the influence of the drilling process,
- Capability to control the orbital drilling speed in the range between 10 to 20 RPM,
- Capability to set the eccentricity values in 5 different position during the orbital drilling,
- Full automatic control of the orbital drilling process by the RSM software.
