Automatic system for measuring residual stresses
by the hole-drilling strain gage method
Typical behaviour of residual stress analysis on a shot-peened sample. The result show a compressive stress in the material close to the surface of the sample that goes near to zero level going deeper in the depth.
Example results of a test on a welded part after a stress relieving heat treatment. In this test the effect of the treatment is highlighted, with the sample almost completely relaxed.
Typical result of mesurment on a rolled sample. The result show an high compression stress with an uniform direction of the maximum component (due to the machining process).
